K-T Key Club District Holds First In-Person District Convention  in Three Years!

March 18-20, 2022, Key Club members, advisors, and chaperones gathered at the Franklin Marriott – Cool Springs to Celebrate “Superheroes in Service”. The high-energy event kicked off Friday evening at 7 pm. YouTube legend Judson Laipply set a positive and enthusiastic tone for the weekend with his important and entertaining message that “Life is Change”. His presentation concluded with “The Evolution of Dance”. (Here is a link to the original Evolution of Dance, one of the most famous YouTube videos ever): The Evolution of Dance!

At Saturday morning’s Mixer Session attendees enjoyed learning a four-minute version of “The Evolution of Dance”. You can view a video of the outcome of that, “training” lesson here: 2022 KT DCON Mixer. The Saturday morning session concluded with the convention service projects. Working in groups of five, attendees made hundreds of activity bags for the Nashville Ronald McDonald House.  After an afternoon of free time to enjoy the sights and attractions of Franklin and Nashville, the evening concluded with convention talent show, awards session, and district dance.

Throughout the weekend attendees participated in a variety of informative and educational workshops. Look for recorded workshop presentations online. One of the most important aspects of the convention was the election of the 2022-2023 district governor, secretary, and treasurer. At Sunday morning’s House of Delegates, the following individuals were elected:

  • Governor: Dalton Adams, Bardstown
  • Secretary: Saumya Sikhwal, South Warren
  • Treasurer: Emi Mizutani, Bardstown

The KT District was honored to have three special guests from Key Club International at the convention:

Key Club International President, Salma Eldeeb, from the Florida District; Key Club International Trustee, Lena Oswald, from the Illinois-Eastern Iowa (I-I) District; and Key Club International Director, Matt Ellis, from Indianapolis, IN.

The convention concluded with the Governor’s Farewell Brunch, where 2021-2022 officers were retired, and 2022-2023 officers were installed. Hopefully, everyone who attended will take the enthusiasm exhibited throughout the weekend back to their clubs and lead them to new levels of success and service.
