District Governor
Governor’s July 2016 Newsletter
K-T District,
I hope each and every one of you are having an absolutely fantastic summer so far! I, along with several others, head to Atlanta, GA next week for our International Convention. It is going to be an amazing experience and I can’t wait to interact with Key Clubbers from all over the world.
In this issue of my newsletter I cover a variety of topics, all of which I hope will be very informative. I even release the theme of this coming year’s District Convention! So, I’d appreciate it so much if you took the time to read it.
I hope you continue to have a great summer and please let me know if you have any questions or need anything! I am more than willing to help my fellow Key Clubbers.

Applications for 2015-2016 Board Positions
Greetings, K-T District!
I am Claire Barnett, your new K-T District Governor . I am very excited about the 2015 -2016 Key Club year, and one of the first orders of business is to appoint two members of the District Board: International Projects Chair and District Historian. I believe that the best way to evaluate potential appointees is by application.
If you are considering applying for this position, please carefully study the responsibilities of each office. If you know anyone interested in applying, please do not hesitate to share the applications with them.Â
Our first board meeting is will be held April 10-12, 2014 at the Best Western Plus Cedar Bluff in Knoxville, Tennessee. This creates extreme time sensitivity; therefore, applications will be due Thursday, April 2, 2015, by 4PM Central Time. Please send all applications to clairetbarnett@gmail.com . I will not accept any applications after the due date, as I will have to carefully review each application and appoint the two deserving people who I feel will do the best job – those who will serve our district to their full abilities. Once I review each application, I will inform the district of my chosen appointees. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

ELIMINATE UPDATE
ELIMINATE STANDINGS
As of December 7, 2014, Kiwanis-family Service Leadership Programs have raised US$3,384,932 in total funds. This is an incredible increase of more than US$72,000 since the last week, which will save or protect more than 40,000 lives. Key Clubs have contributed an amazing US$57,475. Make certain you celebrate these accomplishments with the Key Clubs in your districts! And don’t forget to send in your funds, so we can celebrate your new lifesaving commitments…only two weeks until holiday and vacation time.
‘TIS THE SEASON
It’s the season of giving! Save a life during this holiday season. $1.80 USD can save a mother and her future babies from Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus. Instead of asking for physical presents, consider asking for donations to the Eliminate Project, and encourage your friends to do the same. Celebrate Happy Holidays with UNICEF!
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT
Turn in your Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF funds to help protect mothers and babies from maternal and neonatal tetanus—and add patches to your Key Club’s banner if you raised at least US$250. Send in your donations by December 31, 2014 to get recognized with a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF patch. How can you do even more and involve your Kiwanis club? Double your impact by asking your sponsoring Kiwanis club to match your donations— both clubs will earn recognition! Find details at www.TheEliminateProject.org/SLPrecognition and check out the information about the Unity Award.
